About Me
About the Website
Knowledge is power, and Rowan Remedies aims to give power back to the people through providing information so that each individual has control over their mind, body and soul. It is a platform for sustainable living, culture and health care. We wholly support freedom of speech and expression but ask you to do so with respect for others.
About Me
I am a medical herbalist working in London. I have worked for Neal’s Yard Remedies for 5 years now and have gained much hands-on experience there. That is where my love of natural remedies began. I then decided to study to be a herbalist in the University of Lincoln for 3 years. Now I am self employed as a herbalist and work part-time at Neal’s Yard Remedies.
In the world of herbal medicine it is the individual response which matters most. Herbs are whole as are people. This makes both things inconceivably complex and synergistic.
In this place we must always start with the self and walk into the world with an open heart to find our creativity. When we can see the light in ourselves then we can truly see that light in others. Whatever form it comes in.
My passion is for education. Knowledge is powerful. I look to provide factual information to the best of my knowledge yet always open to correction (as is the scientists way). I create a space within which this information can be connected with individually in your own way and watch how this union blossoms into new life, ideas, words, art, song, concepts, movement and energy.
It is only through observing our subjectivities can we truly see any universal truths which lay beneath. It is this ability to observe the subjective in search for the objective which I see as the only truly scientific way to discover the true essence of herbs and their interaction with the body in a holistic way.
My Practice
I offer home visits for consultations in London (anywhere on the tube line). A medical herbalist treats the cause of illness (rather than the symptoms) in each person, from a holistic perspective which includes:
The Body; using pathophysiology, anatomy and physiology, differential diagnosis, clinical diagnostic skills and nutrition.
The Emotions; the medical herbalist is taught to recognise the connections between our emotions and how they affect the body through the endocrine system.
The Spirit; using traditional ways of thinking about physiology we help you understand your deeper needs and how they are expressed by your illness.
